Between 2008 and 2014, I worked as curator of performance with the Vancouver Art Gallery. Working both within the spheres of public programming and the curatorial department, my work with the VAG was primarily on the quarterly FUSE program, a large-scale event and the gallery’s foremost performance showcase. FUSE involved a wide range of performers from diverse disciplines. The program regularly emphasized site-specific and participatory works, as well as previously created work “retrofitted” for placement in the gallery and within the contexts of the exhibitions on view. Through FUSE and our extended performance programs, I worked with over 100 artists and artist-groups, including Germaine Koh and League, 2boys.tv, Kimsooja, Theatre Replacement, A Tribe Called Red, 605 Collective, Michael Drebert, Hannah Jickling and Helen Reed, House of La Douche, Michael Turner, Instant Coffee, Douglas Coupland, Alex MacKenzie, Lucky’s Comics, Ballet BC, Noam Gagnon, Neworld Theatre, Skeena Reece, Francisco Fernando-Granados, Kerry Tribe, and many others.
